About me

Dennis Butijn
Video Game Producer

With a passion for gaming and a talent for project management, I transform creative concepts into successful games through effective team collaboration and a focus on fun, engaging gameplay.

Hi! My name is Dennis and I'm a Video Game Producer, studying Creative Media and Game technologies at the Breda University of Applied Sciences.

I started playing games before I could walk, and my passion for games only grew ever since. From Crash Bandicoot to Elden Ring to The Last of Us, I've played all kinds of game genres.

I excel in project management, maintaining a high-level overview of scope and coming up with creative solutions to risks and problems.

My goal is to maintain a healthy team dynamic and structure to guide the team towards the creation of a beautiful end product.

Unreal Engine tutorials on YouTube

During my time learning game development, I've spent a lot of time learning the hard skills using tutorials. I found that over 90% of the tutorials don't explain anything, and solely make the thing.

With the experience that I built up using Unreal Engine for over 4 years, I am making my own tutorials: videos of around 5 minutes that do explain both show the theoretical part, as well as making the practical part with a humorous twist added to it.

I'm trying to aim this YouTube channel to be "the channel I wished I would've had when I started making games in Unreal Engine".

Rocket League esports commentator

In 2019, I started commentating Rocket League games. I started out commentating for a small amateur competition, but 2 years later I was able to say that Rocket League commentating turned out to be my side-job.

I've commentated for multiple organizations, fluctuating between 10 to 8000 viewers.

Rocket League commentating has made me feel comfortable to talk in front of a big audience in a non-native language.

Rocket League broadcast management

As a Rocket League broadcast manager, I have gained invaluable experience in collaborating with programmers and graphic designers to ensure that our broadcasts were of the highest quality. This has involved working closely with these teams to create engaging graphics, overlays and animations that enhance the viewer experience.

Additionally, I have been responsible for creating schedules of commentators and streamers for our broadcasts, ensuring that they know what time they're expected to start, and ensuring that they're up to date with the latest league standings.

Managing a group of 20+ members has been a challenging but rewarding experience, as I have developed leadership and organizational skills that served me well in my projects as a video game producer.

Overall, this experience has taught me how to manage a large multi-disciplinary team efficiently.
